Project title: "Legal and entrepreneurial education - the key to business success! (IUS SMART)", MySMIS code 140103, contract no. 24316/20.12.2021, is a project co-financed by the Human Capital Operational Program 2014-2020, Priority Axis 6: Education and skills, Component 1: Innotech Student.

Beneficiary: "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University from Iasi

The general objective of the project is the development of legal and entrepreneurial skills for 350 students from the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași (UAIC) and the encouragement of the establishment and development of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the economic sectors with competitive potential, identified according to the National Strategy for Competitiveness (SNC) or in areas of intelligent specialization, according to the National Strategy for Research, Development and Innovation (SNCDI).

The specific objectives of the project are:

• OS1. Developing legal and entrepreneurial skills for 350 students to set up businesses by providing a training program and organizing a business plan competition.
• OS2. Supporting a number of 21 students from the UAIC through access to training activities, counseling, mentoring, internships and simulated enterprise-type activities, with an emphasis on the economic sectors with competitive potential identified according to SNC and the fields of intelligent specialization according to SNCDI in with a view to employment, during 30 months.
• OS3. The training of the necessary skills for business management in the case of 21 beneficiaries, by running a personalized mentoring program, in order to establish and operate 21 enterprises in the North East region.
• OS4. Supporting the operation of the 21 businesses established within the project, by developing monitoring mechanisms and by providing support to ensure the sustainability of the newly established companies and maintain the 65 newly created jobs, for a period of at least 6 months from the completion of the financing .

The beneficiary students will participate in an authorized entrepreneurial, financial and legal training program and a business plan competition, after which the best 21 business plans will receive funding between 40,000 and 100,000 euros, depending on the number of jobs created by newly established companies.

The IUS SMART project aims to support the operation of the 21 new businesses by developing monitoring mechanisms and providing support to ensure the sustainability and maintenance of the 65 newly created jobs, for a period of at least 6 months from the completion of the financing.

The total value of the project is 8,904,758.33 lei (~1,780,951 euro), of which the amount of 8,870,030.64 lei represents the co-financing of the European Union from the European Social Fund through the Human Capital Operational Program 2014-2020.

The project implementation Period is 24 months, starting from 21.12.2021 until 20.12.2023.
